It was made illegal in its founding country of Bavaria in 1777, but the ban only served to drive the organization to be more discreet. There have been countless times in history since, where the Illuminati has been said to have been disbanded. Today, many different factions and groups of Illuminati exist, many with different versions of history and standards of living.
