Il Postino (Italian for "The Postman") is a story of an Italian postman (played by Massimo Troisi) who is hired to deliver mail to a the exiled Chilean poet Pablo Neruda (played by Philippe Noiret). The postman gains an appreciation for poetry and uses his knowledge to woo local beauty Beatrice (Maria Grazia Cucinotta).
The film was directed by Michael Radford and co-written by Pablo Neruda (poems) and Anna Pavignano (screenwriter).
