Story line
The game is named for the fighter plane that was named to honor the small village where the main character (Shinra) was shot down by enemy Horai forces. Once the villagers nurse Shinra back to health, they gave him the gift of the Ikaruga ship, designed with the polarity mechanic. The polarity mechanic is directly linked to your enemies, which will come in two colors varieties symbolizing one of the two polarities: white or black. By changing the polarity of your ship as you play, you will be able to absorb enemy bullets if the ship matches their color.
