Allison and Tom Penn underwent an In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure to deal with their infertility. Because they did not want a multiple birth, they only permitted implantation of a single embryo, instead of the three usually implanted in an IVF procedure. Despite their precaution, they wound up with a multiple birth after all, as they were one of the 1 in 200,000,000 pregnancies where a single egg divides twice, producing Identical Triplets.
