Idaho Election Results

In Idaho on November 2, 2010, there were elections held for a U.S. Senate seat, the Idaho Governor and U.S. House of Representatives Districts 1 and 2. In the Governor's race, Republican, C.L. Butch Otter is projected to defeat Democrat, Keith Allred. Incumbent Senator, Mike Crapo is currently winning against Democrat, Tom Sullivan. In the House races, Republican, Raul Labrador is leading by a small margin over his Democratic challenger, Walt Minnick in District 1. Idaho became the 43rd state on July 3, 1890 and is primarily a very conservative, Republican leaning state. In 1896 they were also the 4th state in the union to grant women the right to vote.

Idaho's constitution was established in 1889 and became effective in 1890 when granted statehood. The state has one governor elected for a term of four years. Their legislature consists of a 42 member senate and an 84 member House of Representatives. The last time they voted for a Democratic presidential candidate was Lyndon Johnson in 1964. It is not uncommon that all Idaho's representatives in Washington are Republican.
