Ida Ljungqvist appeared as the Playmate of the Month in the March 2008 issue of Playboy, the first African-born woman to do so.

Of Swedish and Tanzanian, descent, she is fluent in three languages and has lived in a dozen different countries, but was raised primarily in East Africa and Southeast Asia. Ljungqvist holds a degree in marketing and fashion design and plans to study economics. She was discovered by 2007 Playmate of the Year, Sara Jean Underwood while shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California.
