Ice cream toppings provide color, flavor, texture and decoration to ice cream. Popular types of toppings include sweet sauces, fruit purees, nuts, fresh fruit and cookies.
How to Make Butterscotch Topping
1. Combine 2 cups brown sugar, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 3/8 tablespoons butter and 1/4 cup corn syrup in a sauce pan and bring to a boil for 3 minutes. Allow to cool before putting on top of ice cream. Keep refrigerated.
2. Try it with chopped peanuts, cherries, bits of chocolate candy or whipped cream.
