iCarly is a young teen-oriented American sitcom starring Miranda Cosgrove. The show revolves around teenager Carly Shay, who hosts her own webcast. iCarly incorporates user-generated content into its scripts. A February 16, 2009, episode of the show featured the popular YouTube character Fred, who gets into a heated rivalry with the show's fictional character "Freddie," played by actor Nathan Kress. The iCarly TV show is filmed on the same set that was used to make episodes of the TV show Saved by the Bell.

- 13-year old Carly is the creator, along with her friend Sam, of the iCarly webcast. Her father is in the Navy, and her 26-year old brother Spencer is her legal guardian.
Samantha "Sam" Puckett (Jennette McCurdy)
- One of Carly's best friends and the co-star of the iCarly webcast. Sam is always in detention and is described by Carly as "rude and obnoxious."
Fredward "Freddie" Benson (Nathan Kress)
- Carly's other best friend and the webcast's technical producer. He lives across the hall from Carly and has a huge crush on her.
Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor)
- Carly's older brother and guardian. He dropped out of law school to become an artist.
