Ian Laperriere is a professional hockey player currently plays center with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League.
Early Years
Laperriere began his career with the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1990. He was then drafted 158th overall in the 1992 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues. Laperriere made his NHL debut in 1993 playing a single game with the Blues. He split the next seasons between the Blues and their International Hockey League affiliate. On December 28, 1995, Laperriere was traded to the New York Rangers. After just 28 games with the Rangers, he was sent to the Los Angeles Kings on March 14, 1996.
Recent Career
Laperriere stayed in Los Angeles for just over eight seasons, becoming a fan favorite. During the 2002-03 regular season, he completed his 500th NHL game. On July 2, 2004, Laperriere signed as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche . Just two years later he completed his 800th NHL game of his career. He completed the 2007-08 season just 73 games away from the 1000 career NHL games plateau.
