Ian Holm is an English actor who has appeared on both stage and film and has starred in The Lord of the Rings Film Series as Bilbo Baggins.

Ian Holm was born in Essex.]. His father was a psychiatrist and his mother was a nurse. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Prior to making a name for himself on screen, he had established himself as a strong stage actor and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
