Hysteric Glamour

  • Hysteric Glamour is a high-end Japanese casual clothing line designed by Nobu Kitamura. The brand has made inroads in the US with its trendy T-shirts, jeans and hoodies, as well as other apparel for men, women, and kids. The brand's T-shirts sell for $100 and above.
  • American Pop

Hysteric Glamour's designer, Nobu Kitamura, is heavily influenced by American pop culture, from the 1950s through the 1990s. His designs have included stylized images of Kurt Cobain with excerpts of Nirvana lyrics and other Cobain writings, vintage S&M photography, and Andy Warhol references. Other themes include muscle cars, pin-ups and Gibson guitars. Kitamura's passion for American pop was requited in Gwen Stefani's 2004 track "Harajuku Girls," which includes the lyrics, "My boyfriend bought me a Hysteric Glamour shirt. They're hard to find in the States, got me feeling couture."
