Hyperthyroidism is a thyroid disorder in which the thyroid gland produces too much hormones. The thyroid controls the metabolism in the body and an excess of thyroid hormones would increase body temperature, heart rate and energy consumption in the body.

Symptoms
Some individuals with milder cases may not experience symptoms. Common symptoms include sensitivity to heat, frequent bowel movements, shaking hands or fingers, excessive sweating, anxiousness, increased heart rate, fatigue, inability to concentrate, unexplained weight loss and light, irregular periods.
