FDA Recall
On May 1, 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised against use of all 14 varieties of Hydroxycut after receiving reports of liver damage from people using the supplement. 23 reported cases of liver problems, from elevated liver enzymes to liver damage requiring transplant to full liver failure, leading to death were noted. Patients reportedly used the supplement in the dosage suggested on the bottle. After hearing of the liver problems, Hydroxycut manufacturer Iovate agreed to voluntarily recall all 14 products.FDA: FDA Warns Consumers to Stop Using Hydroxycut ProductsHydroxycut Products
