Hurricane Guillermo formed in the Pacific Ocean early on the morning of Friday, August 14, 2009. By that evening, the storm had become a powerful category 3 hurricane, with winds near 115 mph.
On Sunday, August 16, Hurricane Guillermo weakened considerably, with sustained winds of around 70 mph. The storm was located about 880 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii. Forecasters at the Central Pacific Hurricane Center said the storm would have a minimal impact on the Hawaiian Islands.http://www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl/cphc/
