Hunter S. Thompson was a well known 20th century journalist most famous for founding Gonzo Journalism and his book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas which was adapted to film in 1998. He began calling himself Dr. Thompson after purchasing a doctorate in Theology from a church by mail order. He was 67 when he died.
Thompson wrote over fifteen books as well as contributing to Rolling Stone Magazine, ESPN, Esquire, The New York Times, Playboy, San Francisco Examiner, TIME, and Vanity Fair.
