Hungary, formally the Republic of Hungary, is a landlocked country located in the Carpathian Basin of Central Europe. Hungary's foundation was laid toward the end of the 9th century by Magyar chieftain Árpád, and the kingdom existed for over 900 years. Hungary has been a parliamentary republic government since 1989 and is working on achieving International Monetary Fund standards of development.
Tourism
Hungary is a very popular tourist destination; many people visit Budapest, the capital. The country is home to several World Heritage Sites and Biosphere reserves. It is also home to the world's second largest thermal lake, Lake Hévíz. Budapest has over 100 thermal pools, some with medicinal properties due to minerals in the water. Many bathhouses are built over these pools and used for swimming and spas.
