Hogan made the statement about his divorce in mid April of 2009 to Rolling Stone magazine that he "could have turned everything into a crime scene, like OJ, cutting everybody's throat." He went on to say that he "totally understands OJ." The couple have been married for 24 years, and also have an adult daughter, Brooke. The family is featured on the VH-1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best.

It also followed a notorious August 2007 auto accident in which, police claim, Nick Hogan and two friends, John Graziano and Daniel Jacobs, were racing in two cars belonging to the Bollea family.

Bollea was allegedly intoxicated and driving with Graziano in a yellow Toyota Supra, while Jacobs drove a silver Dodge Viper. When the Supra struck a palm tree, Graziano suffered serious head injuries, from which he is not expected fully to recover.

On March 25, 2008, the Graziano family filed a civil suit claiming that Hulk Hogan was negligent in his son's accident. Lawyers for the Graziano family were quoted as estimating the damages to be "in the millions."
