HP has launched a new platform in the digital display space. I hesitate to call the DreamScreen just a digital picture frame, although it does do that. It also has a Pandora application, plays video, streams content from a networked computer, connects to thousands of Internet radio stations, interfaces with Snapfish and Facebook and has both wired and wireless Internet connections. So it’s more than a frame – it truly is a new platform. -From http://www.digitalpictureframereview.com/2009/09/review-hp-dreamscreen

HP is taking the digital photo frame to new heights with its HP DreamScreen line of smart displays that do way more than just let you browse pretty pictures. The DreamScreen is a beautiful, smart display that comes in 10in and 13in sizes. Both link wirelessly to the web and can display pictures, five-day weather forecasts, Facebook friend updates and the Pandora music service. The displays also can be linked to your desktop so you can easily put multimedia content directly on them. From http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=3202125

There are products which simply defy categorization. Take the SmartQ 7. Its ARM chipset is a smartphone platform, yet its lack of phone functions and choice of Ubuntu operating system ultimately puts it in the Mobile Internet Device category. The HP DreamScreen is one such device. Is it a souped-up photo frame with wireless features, or a dumb-down tablet PC?
