Howie Kendrick

  • Major League Baseball second baseman Howie Kendrick currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

    Kendrick was originally drafted by the Angels on June 4, 2002, in the 10th round of the MLB Draft. He was placed with the Angels' minor league affiliates for his first few years.

    On April 26, 2006, Kendrick was called up to make his MLB debut with the Angels. He played a total of 72 games his rookie year in the majors, hitting 25 runs and four homeruns in 267 attempts at bat.

    Kendrick split the 2007 season between the Angels and their minor league teams. He played 88 games with the Angels, hitting 55 runs, five homeruns and finished with a .322 batting average.

    He is expected to be the Angels starter for second base in the 2008 season, however shortly after the season opened, he was benched with a jammed thumb.
