How to Wax Your Lip

As you lean in close to look at your reflection, there you see it: the first signs of a mustache on your upper lip. Before you do something silly, like reach for a razor and start shaving, waxing is a more natural method for hair removal. Because waxing tears hair out at the roots, it grows in softer and takes a lot longer than most of the other alternative methods. To learn how to wax your lip, check out the tips provided on this how to page.

Introduction

  • Waxing is often portrayed as a painful process, which turns many people off of the idea before they've even tried it. While waxing does tend to sting a bit, there are several advantages over the other methods that make the temporary pain involved with waxing worthwhile.

Step 1: Cleaning Your Skin

  • Before you layer on the wax and prepare to start pulling out those pesky hairs, you'll want to thoroughly clean your face with mild soap and warm water. Rinse and pat dry. The warm water will open up your pores, making the process easier.

Step 2: Warming the Wax

  • Follow the instructions according to the product you have purchased to use. Warm the wax until you are able to move the stir-stick inside the container loosely. Test the temperature of the wax on the back of your hand, to make sure it is not too hot.

Step 3: Applying the Wax

  • Because the wax tends to harden quickly, it is imperative that you only do one half of your upper-lip at a time. Apply the warm wax with the stir-stick to one half of your upper lip in downward strokes.

Step 4: Removing Hair

  • After you have applied the wax, take one of the cloth strips and press it down firmly into the wax. Make several firm presses to ensure that the hair is captured in the wax. Tear away the cloth strip and the wax in a quick, downward motion. Repeat this process if all of the hair is not removed, and then do the same thing on the other side of your upper-lip until all of the hair has been removed.

Conclusion

  • The pain of waxing is quick and easy to abide, and stinging skin can be soothed with tea-tree oil based lotions, which also promote healing. You want to start with clean skin. Only warm wax until it is ready, and test the temperature on the back of your hand to make sure it isn't too hot. Apply wax in downward strokes and press the cloth firmly into your upper lip. Tear away wax strips in quick, downward motion.
