Step 1: Create a Shape Tool Bar
Press the black triangle in the bottom corner of the rectangle tool icon on your tool palate. The rectangle tool is the 4th button in the right column. A pop-out window will appear that features 6 shape tools. Step 2: Create Images
Select a shape from your tool palate. You can select between a rectangle, rectangle with rounded corners, ellipse, polygon, star or a flare. After pressing the button that corresponds with the image you want to create, click on your artboard, then drag your mouse until the image size you prefers appears. If you want to create a perfect square, hold your "Shift" button while making a rectangle. Step 3: Adjust Shape Options
Some shapes on the tool palate, such as the rounded rectangle, polygon, star or flare, can be modified for new shapes, sizes and edges. To change the settings, click on the tool you desire, then double click on the artboard. A pop-up settings box will appear. Make your adjustments, then press "OK".
