In this video from Mahalo, Morgan demonstrates how to use the Slacker Radio app on the Droid phone. The application provides a free Internet radio program.

Step 1: Download Slacker Radio

The first thing you'll need to do to use the Slacker Radio application is download it from the Android Market, which is the app store for Android-based phones. Access the Market by selecting the Market icon from your phone's main menu.

You can find the application easily by selecting the magnifying glass icon in the Market. This opens up the search box. Type the name Slacker Radio into the search box and then click the magnifying glass again to search for it. You should see the app listed in your search results. You can also locate the app by selecting the Multimedia category from the Apps menu.

Select Slacker Radio and then click the Install button to download it. After you give your consent for the app to access certain kinds of information on your phone, Slacker Radio will begin downloading.

Step 2: Create an Account

Once the application finishes downloading, you will see a black box with a white check mark appear in the top of your phone's home screen. Use the pulldown function to access the app or just select it from your main menu.

When the app first opens, you will see a screen that prompts you to enter your email address and password. If you are new to Slacker Radio, you will need to create an account to access the service. Select the Create Account icon at the bottom of the screen to do so.

The next screen will contain several text fields for you to enter personal information, such as your year of birth, zip code and gender. You can also choose whether you would like to access explicit content on the radio or not. When you are finished entering your information, click the Create Account button at the bottom. Once the account is successfully created, you will be automatically logged in to the service.

Step 3: Choose a Station to Listen To

The home page of the Slacker Radio app displays a list of available radio stations you can listen to. These are grouped into subcategories, such as: News, Top Stations, Alternative, Hip Hop/R&B, etc. Stations that you have listed to recently will appear in the Recently Played category.

Select a subcategory you would like to explore to see the stations you can hear in that genre. Choose a station that you would like to hear by pressing the icon. A song will begin playing from the station and the next song will be listed below the run time. You can choose to skip to the next song if you'd like. If you hold the icon down when you're selecting your station, a menu will appear that allows you to cache the station, send it to a friend or set it as a favorite.
