In this video, Mahalo software expert Dallas Morgan teaches you how to use the layout view for your iWork Pages document.
Using Layout View
When you're working on a project in the Pages application, you can use the Layout view to see the layout template of your document. This will allow you to edit the layout of specific sections of the document.
View the Layout
Open a document to edit in the Pages program. Go to View --> Show Layout or use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Command+L.
Pages will display rectangles and lines around the structural elements of the document. For example, the header and footer will be surrounded by narrow rectangles and the text body will be outlined.
Add a Layout
You can add multiple different layouts to a single document. Select where you want the next layout to begin and then go to Insert --> Layout Break. A horizontal line will show where your new layout starts.
Edit a Layout
Edit a layout by opening the Inspector window and selecting the Layout tab and Layout button.
You can add and subtract columns to a layout by clicking on the arrows below Columns. Adjust the width of the columns by entering a desired number. You can control the size of the space between the columns using the Gutter adjustment column.
Change the margins of each layout section by using the Left, Right, Before and After sections under Layout Margins.
