Step 2: Add Movies to Your Queue

Once you have signed up for a subscription, it is time to start adding movies to your queue. You will:

  1. Sign into your Netflix account.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  2. Go to your queue.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  3. In the upper right hand corner of the screen, go to the search box and search for the movies and television shows you are interested in watching. If the movie is available, there will be a red button that says Add on it. Click add, and the title will appear in your queue. If the movie is not available yet, either because it is not yet out on DVD, or because Netflix just doesn't have the title yet, there will be a green box that says Save. Click save, and the title will go into your queue. When it becomes available, it will be added at the bottom of your queue.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  4. Decide which movies or television shows you want to see first, and place them in the order you wish to see them.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  5. Netflix will send you your number one selection in your queue, and will continue sending your titles based off the order you have placed them. If you have unlimited rentals each month, with the option to have 3 DVDs out at a time, netfix will continue to send you DVDs all month, up to three at a time, as they receive them back from you.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  6. To get started, Netflix will mail you the top selections in your queue, based off how many titles you have paid to have at any given time (1, 2 or 3). Most customers will receive their DVDs within one business day. Once you have finished watching one, you will put it in the self addressed envelope Netflix includes with each DVD. A stamped postage has already been placed on the envelope by Netflix, so you will not need to include a stamp. Once Netflix receives the DVD, they will immediately mail out the next title in your queue.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  7. To find out the status of your account and which titles are on their way, sign into your Netflix account and go to your queue. At the top of your queue, you will see your status. If you are entitled to three movie titles at a time, you will see a column listing the date each one was shipped and the estimated date of arrival.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks
  8. If you have any problems with a specific title, there is a report problem icon at the status of each shipped DVD. Click on the link and report the issue. Possible problems include scratched or broken DVDs or titles that have not yet arrived.http://www.netflix.com/HowItWorks

Step 3: Watch Instantly Online

To watch instantly online, go to the Netflix website and click on the Watch Instantly icon. In the upper right corner of the page, search for the title you would like to watch. The results will either say Add, which means the title is only available to be mailed. If you want to add it to your queue, click add. Otherwise, begin searching again. If the title is available to see online, there will be a blue Play button. Click play to watch immediately online, or select Add, and the title will go into your watch instantly queue.

Step 4: Watch Instantly on Your Television

You can also watch select Netflix titles directly on your television through one of the Netflix ready devices. These include game consoles, specific TVs, Blu-ray players, etc. Prices for these consoles usually start around $79.99. Keep in mind that there is no additional fee for this service, only the price for the console itself, which you may already own. Some of these devices include, but are not limited to:
