Google Chrome is a free open-source internet browser released in September 2008. Some of its features include rapid start up time, fast browsing, unique theming, and a lightweight footprint on computer systems. One of the more popular features, however, is the incognito mode. The incognito mode allows whomever is browsing the web to enter a secure browsing mode that will not store history or cookies. This prevents others from seeing which websites the browser was viewing, and can be useful for everything from buying gifts for others online to viewing pornography without anyone else becoming aware. This guide will teach you how to use Google Chromes incognito mode.

Introduction
Using Google Chrome's incognito mode is actually a fairly easy task. The mode is a simple menu setting that you will have to activate each time you open Chrome (unless you follow the instructions below). Incognito mode has many uses, including researching presents for family members, checking out online dating sites without anyone else knowing, or looking at adult content sites. Follow the instructions below to start a safe and secure browsing session that is confidential and hidden from others. -
Enabling Google Chrome Incognito Mode
There are two ways to quickly accomplish activating incognito mode in Google Chrome. The first is by using hotkeys in Windows. If you type CTRL-SHIFT-N, it will automatically open a new window with incognito mode already activated. If you prefer to use menu clicking rather than hotkeys, you can click on the wrench icon in the top right and then select "Open new incognito window".Keep in mind that when you do this, you will still have your previous regular browsing window open behind the new incognito window. You may want to close this so that you don't accidentally browse to websites you want confidential.

Starting Up in Google Chrome Incognito Mode
One feature that many people wish that Google Chrome would offer is the ability to set Chrome to open in incognito mode by default. This would prevent many people from accidentally forgetting to open an incognito window. Luckily, there is a way to accomplish this.- Right click on the Chrome desktop icon and click on Properties.
- In the "target" textbox, add -incognito to the end of the text
- Click "OK".
The next time you open up Chrome, it will automatically open up in incognito mode. This allows people to use Chrome as a browser that is always confidential when they want to browse questionable or adult sites.http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-set-google-chrome-in-incognito-mode-as-default-in-two-steps/#more-4048
Incognito Mode - Not Always Incognito
Since the launch of incognito mode, many people have questioned just how secure it actually is. Many videos online are streamed in the Windows Media Player (.wmv) format. These videos are automatically saved into the Internet Explorer browsing history. This means that regardless if you actually use Internet Explorer or not, it is keeping the history of all .wmv and .avi files that are being accessed in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If you clear your cookies and history in either of those two browsers, it will still exist in the Internet Explorer browsing history. http://www.polybore.co.uk/2009/03/warning-google-chrome-incognito-mode.htmlFor ultimate security, you should make sure to clear your Internet Explorer history after each time you use Google Chrome incognito mode for viewing videos online.
