Top Ten Feng Shui Tips
In this video, Los Angeles design consultant Elizabeth Chamberlain offers her top ten tips for achieving positive energy flow in the home. These tips are quick and easy, and most will only take minutes to accomplish.
Step 1: Create a Clean Atmosphere
According to feng shui principles, clutter must be removed from the home or office (or any other indoor space) in order to allow energy to flow freely. By freeing up space, you open the pathway for new opportunities in your life. Create a storage area in the home in an area set in a positive direction (more on directions later), and keep any items there that you do not need on-hand.
- Clutter should also be removed from the body. This means eating whole, healthy foods, getting exercise and fresh air, and releasing any stress that may be pent up inside you.
Step 2: Yin Yang
To the Chinese, Yin represents female energy and yang represents the male. Yin is more passive, restrained and secretive, while yang is loud, bold and aggressive. The balance of these in your space is important. Rooms that promote relaxation, such as the bedroom, should have plenty of yin colors, such as blue, green, purple or silver. Rooms where a more energetic feel is desired should have sufficient yang colors, such as red, yellow and gold.
Step 3: Determine Your Kua Number
Your personal kua number will determine many things, such as which areas of your home or office you should spend the most time in, which direction you should sleep in, and much more. The formula is fairly complex, but an online kua calculator will help you find it. Numbers 1, 3, 4 and 9 are considered the east group, while 2, 6, 7 and 8 make up the west group. Knowing your number will help you do further research to find out the details of how to complete your feng shui project. http://fengshui.about.com/od/mainconcepts/qt/fengshuikua.htm
