Dry Ice Bubble
This video demonstrates how to make a giant bubble rise from a bowl of dry ice. You'll need a bowl, warm water, dry ice, a cloth strip soaked in soap that's longer than the bowl is wide. Place the dry ice in the bowl, and add the warm water. Rub the soapy cloth over the edge of the bowl, covering the edge completely. Then, holding the cloth at one edge of the bowl. bring it totally across the bowl, leaving a film of soap as it goes. This soap film will trap the carbon dioxide produced by the dry ice, containing the fog. As more gas is produced., the bubble will increase in size.
Introduction
Use Dry Ice to Make a Witch's Brew
- You'll need two punch bowls - one larger than the other, your favorite punch recipe, dry ice, and warm water.
- Place the dry ice in the larger bowl.
- Pour the punch in the smaller bowl.
- Nest the smaller bowl in the larger bowl.
- Add warm water to the larger bowl right before your guests arrive.
- The warm water and dry ice will create fog that will look as if its coming from the punch.
Use Dry Ice to Make a Smoking Jack O Lantern
- You'll need a carved pumpkin, a tall can, salt, warm water, and dry ice.
- Mix 4 cups of warm water with 1 cup of salt and fill a tall can half full.
- Add the dry ice to the can.
- Place the can carefully in the carved pumpkin, and put the top back on the pumpkin.
- Smoke will come out of the carved openings.
Use Dry Ice to Make Fog
- You'll need dry ice, an insulated container, and warm water
- A styrofoam cooler with a lid will work well. Paint the outside of the cooler black, to fit the Halloween mood if desired.
- Punch holes in the top of the lid-- the more holes and the larger they are the more fog you'll get.
- Place a large chunk of dry ice in the cooler.
- Add warm water. When the fog stops, add more warm water to get it going again.
