It is becoming harder and harder to get significant amounts of traffic to your blog or website. Social networking, however, can solve that problem. There is a significant amount of attention being payed to the social networks that exist and thus they are the perfect way to promote your blog/site. Twitter is a prime example of the Social Networking boom that we are experiencing and it can be used to generate traffic to your site. The best way is to do what you do best, create content and then allow tools that are readily available to run in the background and promote your blog.

Introduction
Twitter has become the center of the social networking world, making it a great way to promote your blog. Blogging is a form of individual expression and a usually is on a very focused topic. The sheer number of blogs makes it hard to generate traffic to your site. However, you are able to use your following in the Twitterverse to generate traffic and gain regular visitors. -
Requirements:
A few fundamental things are required in order to get started with feeding your blog posts to Twitter. This is assuming that you have your blog up and running with a RSS feed of your posts. Most, if not all, blogging platforms automatically create a RSS feed (wordpress, Typepad, Blogger, Squarespace, etc).- A Twitter account, with followers. (your personal account is fine)
- A bit.ly account. (http://bit.ly)
- The URL of your RSS Feed.
- A Twitterfeed.com account. (http://twitterfeed.com)
The steps are listed in order so that you have what you need when you reach the final step. Account setups are fairly easy for all services required; the sites are self explanatory. The whole process from start to finish should take you about 15-30 minutes.

Process:
When embarking on a project such as this, it is sometimes necessary to understand how it works. The process is actually quite simple and occurs in the background as follows:- You post a new entry on your blog.
- Your blogging platform updates your RSS Feed.
- Twitterfeed.com checks your RSS Feed every 30 minutes or longer (customizable setting)
- Twitterfeed.com shortens your blog post URL using bit.ly.
- Twitterfeed.com, using your Twitter account, posts a new Tweet. (ie. New Blog Post: XXXXXXXXX, URL)
Results:
Once the background processing has taken place, your Twitter followers now have a new Tweet from you with your new blog post. Hopefully some of them will 're-tweet' it so that it makes its way through the Twitterverse. Go ahead and check your analytics tools to see if you are picking up any new traffic as a result. Twitterfeed.com will also track how many people clicked on the bit.ly url.
