There are certain things you should to do prepare before unlocking an iPhone. Save a backup of any files, information and settings you would like to keep, as you might loose it. Jailbreak your phone. Jailbreaking allows you to use applications on the phone that don't usually work. There are several applications available to jailbreak a phone. Step 2: Unlocking an iPhone
To unlock the iPhone, you will need an application designed for that purpose. While there are several applications out there, you should use familiar one that others have used successfully. - Install yellowsn0w by downloading and install Cydia or Installer, which can be installed after jailbreaking the phone. Add an application repository through the application settings and options. For Cydia, add http://apt9.yellowsn0w.com/. For Installer, add http://i.yellowsn0w.com/
- Turn off the phone and remove your SIM card.
