Stop the Alpha Antivirus Process This process is described below:
- Press “Ctrl+Alt+Delete“, then click on the “Task Manager“.
- Select one of the two processes below that you want to stop, then click on “End Process“. The two processes are Alpha Antivirus.exe or Alpha AV.exe
Find and Delete Alpha Antivirus Files This process is described below:

- Select the C: drive

Remove Alpha Antivirus Registry Values For Windows XP, implement the following routine:
- In Windows XP, click Start, and then click on Run.
- Type “regedit“, then click on OK. The Registry Editor will now be opened.
- Navigate through the subkeys to find what you are looking for. Press “Ctrl + F” to locate the subkey that contains the value you want to edit. (Press F3 to Find the Next one on the list)
For Windows Vista, the routine is slightly different:
- From start, type regedit in the search box, bottom left
- Click on “regedit” when you see the search result and open the registry editor in Windows Vista
- Step 3 is exactly the same as for Windows XP

- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Alpha Antivirus

Step 3: Tool based removal of Alpha Antivirus
If step 2 sounds too complex a much safer approach for the inexperienced user is to use a tool to remove Alpha Antivirus.
There are a number of tools that can safely remove Alpha Antivirus. We have defined a process below to remove the malware through the use of Malware Bytes, anti malware software:
- Print out the full instructions below as you will have to close this window before the end of the process
- Download the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, MBAM file , from the attached location and make sure you save it to your desktop http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe
- Once the software is downloaded, close all open programs and tabs on your computer, including this browser
- Commence the installation of the software by double clicking the icon on your desktop for the file named mbam-setup.exe.
- Once the installation begins, just follow the online instructions. Leave the default settings as they are and once the program is finished installing eave both of the update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware options checked off. Once complete, click on the Finish button.
- MBAM will now start automatically and you will see a message indicating that you need to update the program before a scan is completed. MBAM automatically updates itself following the installation. Press the OK button to close this box and you will be at the main program menu.
- On the Scanner tab, select the perform full scan option and then click the scan button to start scanning your computer for Alpha Antivirus and other viruses/malware.
- MBAM will start to scan your computer for malware. As this process takes a long time you can do something else and periodically check the status of yours scan.
- Once the scan is complete you will receive a message saying “The scan completed successfully. Click “show results” to display all objects found”. Click on the OK box to continue the process.
- Now you will be back at the main scanner screen. Click on the show results button.
- Once the results screen is displayed it will show you all the viruses found in the process.
