Introduction
- As Facebook's popularity grew, you might have accepted any friend request you received and now find yourself wanting to narrow your list of friends down to those you actually communicate with. Or perhaps you and a friend have had a falling out and you no longer want them as a Facebook friend. Luckily, unfriending someone on Facebook is an easy process, as this guide will show you. And don't worry, the person you unfriend will not be notified in any way.

Step 1: Access Your Facebook Account
- You must be logged in to the Facebook site to access the pictures that you wish to tag.
- Enter your username and password on the Facebook home page to access your account.
Step 2: Find the Person You Wish to Unfriend
- There are a couple different ways to locate the person you want to unfriend.
- Visit your friend's profile.
- On your homepage, hover your mouse over the "Friends" tab at the top of the page, then select "All Friends." This will take you to a list of all your current Facebook friends. You can scroll through to the person you wish to defriend, or you can type their name in the Search box at the top of the left navigation column.
Step 3: Unfriend the Person
- Depending on how you located the person you want to unfriend, you have a couple options to complete the unfriending process.
- If you are on the person's profile, locate the box at the bottom of the left navigation and select the option to "Remove from Friends." A confirmation box will appear, asking you to confirm that you really want to remove the person from your Friends list. Click "Remove Friend" and the unfriending process is complete.
- If you are reviewing your full list of friends, you will see to the far right of each friend's name a grey "X." Click the "X." A confirmation box will appear, asking you to confirm that you really want to remove the person from your Friends list. Click "Remove Friend" and the unfriending process is complete.
