Like any other social networking tool, using Twitter takes some practice. If, after getting used to the service, you find that you no longer want to receive updates from some of the people you are following, this guide will teach you how to unfollow people on Twitter.

Introduction
- Getting used to using the service and customizing your Twitter profile takes some trial and error. Some new users, upon signing up, follow anyone whose profile they come across or follow anyone who follows them. Like any other social network tool, though, there are spammers on Twitter who follow all new users in an attempt to gain online notoriety or advertising revenue. If, after getting used to Twitter, you find that you have inadvertently subscribed to people who are spamming you, or simply those whose tweets you find uninteresting, you can customize your tweet stream by removing these users from your follow list.
Step 1: Sign into Twitter
- Before making any adjustments to your Twitter profile or following list, you'll have to first sign in.
- Go to the Twitter homepage (www.twitter.com) or log in page (www.twitter.com/login)
- Enter your user name and password in the appropriate fields and then click "Sign In" or press your enter key
Step 2: Unfollowing
- Upon logging into your Twitter account, you should be taken to your homepage. To unfollow one or several of the tweeters on your list, follow these steps:
- Go to the list of the people you are following by clicking on the "following" link. You can find this link near the top right hand corner of the page, directly beneath your user name and profile picture
- Scroll through the list until you find the account you want to stop following
- Once you have found a profile that you want to remove from your follow list, click the "remove" button on the right side of the listing
- If you unfollow someone by accident, simply click on the "follow" button that will appear under their picture after you remove them
- To ensure that your changes have been applied, click on your web browser's "refresh" button. The account which you removed should no longer be listed in your "following" list
- Repeat step #3 above to remove as many people as you want from your list
Conclusion
- Unfollowing people on Twitter is just as easy, if not even easier, than adding them to your follow list. Unlike when you sign up to follow someone, the person who you unfollow will not get an email telling them you have removed them from your follow list, so you don't need to worry about hurting anyone's feelings by unfollwing them. Therefore, you can sign up to follow as many people as you wish, and then opt to remove them from your stream later if you find their tweets annoying, boring, uninspired or offensive.
