Apple doesn't allow its iPod users to put files from their iPod onto their computer (due to copyrights and piracy), solely from the computer onto the iPod. However there are ways to move files freely from an iPod onto a computer.

Introduction
This "how to" will outline third party software which will allow you to copy content from your iPod onto your computer. Some of the softwares which will be mentioned can also function as basic iPod management software, however we will strictly focus on the aspect of transferring files from the iPod to the computer.
There are several softwares available, however some of these are not for free. These include CopyTrans, iGadget, iPodAccess, MegaPhone, Music Rescue and TouchCopy.
Free applications include YamiPod, SenUtil and the one we will discover, SharePod.
Step 1:
Download SharePod from http://sharepod.sturm.net.nz and open the application.
Step 3:
Run the SharePod application and attach your iPod to your computer,

In order to copy songs or files from your iPod onto your computer just click the relevant files on the SharePod interface. After selecting the files from your iPod simply click the "Copy to PC" button.
