A popular and useful feature on the iPhone 4, released June 24, 2010, is the ability to take screenshots - a picture of the current image on your screen. http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2010/06/28iphone.html If you are having trouble taking a screenshot, this page will teach you how to take a screenshot with the iPhone 4. Screenshots are useful for sharing bugs or problems with friends or tech support, or simply saving a screen for later reference. It is also a useful tool in helping others to use their iPhones properly.
To take a screenshot, you must first find the screen of which you want a picture; next, use a short sequence of buttons to take the screenshot, and finally, retrieve the photo and use it as you see fit.

Taking Screenshots with the iPhone 4
This video will teach you the basics of taking an iPhone 4 screenshot by navigating to a text message, snapping the pictures, and locating them in the camera roll. The location of the correct buttons to push are also shown in case you are unsure.
Step 1: Navigate to The Screen You Want to Capture
The iPhone 4 will allow a screenshot of any screen you can bring up. You may want to take a picture of a text or IM conversation, an error, a game score, or anything else imaginable. First, ensure your phone's battery is charged, and the phone is turned on. Then, using standard navigation techniques, locate the screen of which you'd like to take an image. Ensure it appears on the screen exactly as you want it to appear in the picture. You're ready to take a screenshot!
Step 2: Take The Screenshot
Taking the screenshot is a very easy process, as there are only 2 buttons to push:
- Hold down the sleep/wake button on the top, right edge of the phone
- Quickly follow this with 2 short presses of the home button
The screen will flash momentarily, signifying the picture has been taken. These screenshots are now automatically saved as photos in your camera roll. http://www.youtube.com/v/dAXuTbl8Rew

Now that you have your screenshot, what can you use it for?

- From your iPhone, attach the photo to an outgoing email to send to a friend
- Use an online service like Flickr, Twitpic, yfrog or Facebook to upload your photo and share it via a link. This link can be used in email, text message, or other conversation
