Introduction
- Facebook users spend an average of 3.5 million minutes a day perusing the site. A lot of this time is spent looking at photos posted by other Facebook users. Tagging these images with the names of the people in them makes it easier for other Facebook users to find pictures of you and/or your friends, or even themselves.
Step 1: Access Facebook
- Log on to Facebook to access pictures that you wish to tag. Do this by:
- Visiting the Facebook home page at www.facebook.com.
- Typing in your username and password.
Step 2: Find Your Photos
- After logging in, you will need to get to your Photos page in order to start tagging your images.
- To find your pictures, click "Profile" in the dark blue toolbar at the top of the page.
- On your profile page, select the "Photos" tab at the top of your profile, just underneath your Facebook status.
Step 3: Assign Tags to Your Photos
- Once on your photos page, click into the album that contains the images you want to tag.
- Select "Edit Photos." The images in the album will now display. When you move your mouse over an image, a crosshair will appear.
- Click on the image and a box will appear around the area you have clicked, along with a pop-up box where you can type any name or tag for the designated or choose one of your friends' names to add to.
- Save your changes.
- Now the tags you assigned will display whenever you or other users mouse over the tagged portion of the image. If you are tagging images immediately after uploading them, you can follow the same process.
Step 4: Assign Tags to Other People's Photos
- You can also tag people in photos posted by your friends.
- Click the thumbnail of the image you want to tag to open the image's main page.
- Underneath the photo on the right side of the page is the option to "Tag This Photo." Click on the link.
- A crosshair will appear on the image, along with a prompt above the image to "Click on people's faces in the photo to tag them." Click on the image with the crosshair, causing a box to appear around the clicked area and a pop-up box where you can type in any name or tag.
- After you have finished adding all tags, click the "Done Tagging" button just above the image on the right side to save your changes.
