Introduction
- The Wii remote that originally came with your console system will already be set up to work with your system. However, any new remotes that you purchase will need to be synced with the console before you can use them as controllers. There are two syncing methods: The standard method, which will sync the remote with the system until you manually change the settings, and the one-time method, which will sync the remote to the system until the system is turned off.
-
Standard Method
- Before you begin the syncing process, be sure that the remote you wish to sync with your system has batteries in it, but leave the remote's battery cover off.
- Turn your Nintendo Wii console on
- Locate the SD Card slot on the front of the console and remove its cover
- Press the "SYNC" button on the console's SD compartment
- Press the "SYNC" button, located next to the batteries on the back of the Wii controller
- The light on the front of the console will flash as the console and remote are syncing up. Once the light has stopped flashing, the remote is synced to the console
-
-
One-Time Method
- The one-time synchronization will override all remotes that have been synced to the Wii console in standard method and these remotes will remain un-synced until the system is turned off. The one-time method will sync the desired remote to the system and the remote will remain synced until the console is turned off.
- Turn on the Wii console
- Using a Wii remote that is synced to the system, select the "Home" button
- On the "Home" menu, locate and select the "Wii Remote Settings" option
- Locate and select the "Reconnect" option
- Simultaneously press the 1 and 2 buttons on the remote you want to sync with the system
- Repeat step 5 for any additional remotes you want to sync with the system
- The light on the front of the console will flash as the remote is synced with the system; once the flashing has stopped, the syncing process is complete
