Turkey Humor
Sometimes no matter how hard you plan or how hard you work, the holidays just don't turn out the way you want them to. If that's the case at your house, then just take a look at this video to realize that maybe your Thanksgiving wasn't so bad after all. If nothing else, at least you can get a giggle out of Thanksgiving Day.

Step 1: Personal Hygiene
We've all had it happen, that smudge on our face, stain on our clothes or run in our nylon. While they aren't exactly critical situations, they can certainly be embarrassing. Use some of the tips below to survive this holiday season with your dignity intact.- Bring a loose powder compact with a mirror. This can come in handy when you don't know how to manage difficult relatives during Thanksgiving who just can't resist commenting on some blemish you've tried to cover up.
- Bring a couple of clear buttons, clear thread and scissors in case a fastener decides to break at an inopportune time (for you anyhow!).
- Bring feminine products in case you or someone else has an emergency need for them.
- Make sure tweezers are available in case there is an unsightly hair that went unnoticed until your first trip to the bathroom.
- Clear nail polish is a must for repairing nylons and even acting as a temporary adhesive if need be.
- Bring a sample size deodorant in case you are so nervous you are sweating through your shirt!
Step 2: Saving the Food
Sometimes things just get out of hand. Maybe we had poor planning or maybe we just got too busy, but things get forgotten, burnt or take longer to cook than expected. Use the tips below to save the meal if need be.- Double check the night before to make sure you have everything. If not, go get it or call around to see what stores will be open on Thanksgiving. It's actually a good idea to see what stores are going to be open anyhow just in case you or one of your guests need something.
- If you run out of milk for a recipe you can sometimes substitute with sour cream or ice cream.
- Have activities ready for the guests to do in case dinner takes longer to cook than anticipated.
- If you run low on one dish, throw something simple together to make up for it. For example, if you run low on corn, make some green beans. If you run low on mashed potatoes, make some instant potatoes to mix with the real ones.
- If you have the misfortune to drop the turkey on the floor, simply peel the skin off. The turkey underneath is actually untouched.
- If your cake doesn't rise properly, simply crumble it in miniature cups or a pie pan, cover it with some whipped cream and drizzle it with syrup or sprinkles.
- If you burn something, light pumpkin spice candles to cover up the smell and cook something else.
- If the guests hate your dinner, blame your spouse.
Step 3: Personality Conflicts
When relatives and friends get together, it's not always pretty. Sometimes personality clashes can cause unforeseen events. Use the tips below to deal with these common Thanksgiving issues.- Warn your spouse before dinner that they may have more responsibility than they asked for. Make sure they know you actually love them.
- If you don't know how to deal with an unruly child, designate someone else as responsible for them, like their parents.
- If you don't know how to manage difficult relatives during Thanksgiving, make yourself responsible for the food and your spouse responsible for the guests.
- If a toxic topic is brought up, simply cough loudly and change the subject.
- If you really can't take it anymore, call your house from your cell phone, while leaving the cell phone in the other room. Announce an emergency upon answering the house phone and make your escape.
