Mahalo.com cooking expert Scott Aaronson shows you how to slice using a food processor.
What You'll Need
- 1 Fruit or vegetable (such as yellow zucchini)
- 1 Food processor
- 1 Detachable stem
- 1 Slicing disc
- 1 Cutting board
Step 1: Prepare Your Food Processor
1. Attach your work bowl (the clear container with the handle) to your food processor by placing it over the processor's vertical rod and settling it downward. Turn it to lock it in place.
2. Attach the stem to the underside of your slicing disc.
3. Hold the stem vertically over the processor's vertical rod. Rotate the stem until it slides into the rod, then drop it into the work bowl.
4. Put the top onto the food processor. Slide the larger part of the pusher assembly into the mouth of the top.
Step 2: Slicing Using a Food Processor
1. Turn on the food processor.
2. If your ingredient will fit whole into the pusher assembly, put it into it and let it drop. The food processor will pull the ingredient through the slicer disc. This yields perfectly even slices. If your ingredient won't fit whole into the assembly, cut it into equal pieces using a knife, then put it into the assembly and push it in using the pusher.
3. Turn off the food processor. Remove the top, the slicing disc, and the stem.
4. Unlock and remove the work bowl, then pour out your ingredient onto the cutting board.
