Before you randomly choose people to fill these positions, determine which character type they are as well as what ‘’Mafia Wars’’ level they are at currently. This will help you get a higher percentage of cash and experience points.

In order to promote someone, first they must be part of your Mafia Family. After they are part of your family, you can promote them to certain positions. Research your family’s size and levels by clicking on the My Mafia link on the upper Mafia Wars toolbar and then choose the My Mafia link on the lower toolbar that is right next to the Recruit link. Scroll down until you can see your family. You will be able to see their name and level and their character type. The character type is important because certain top mafia positions must be held by members who are certain characters. You can also see the number of fights won, the number of successful heists and the amount of jobs completed.

Choose people who are high levels and active players for these top mafia positions. Promote Mafia family members who have performed a lot of jobs to the position of Mastermind. This position allows you to receive more experience points when you do jobs. Your Mastermind may also receive experience points for performing certain jobs as well. If you have a member who has won a high number of Mafia Wars fights, you may want to promote them to your body guard so you can receive a defense bonus. Your family member also benefits by gaining the opportunity to win fights when they are attacked; however, the chance of this occurring is slim.

Safecrackers should be chosen from family members who have successful heists to their name. This way, you can get more money from fighting and robbing (in New York). Safecrackers can gain double money when fighting or robbing too.

These positions require your top mafia to be certain characters before they can be promoted. You can only choose players who are Fearless to be your Wheelman. Make sure they are a high level too as the amount of energy spent on some jobs may be reduced. If you are promoted to be Wheelman from another player, you will have the opportunity to do certain jobs for no energy. The Button Man position must be someone with the Maniac character as well as a high mafia level. This way you will receive an attack bonus and your Button Man has the opportunity to win fights they initiate from time to time. The Bagman must be chosen from Mogul types of members who, of course, have a high level as well. This way, you can get more money from jobs and your Bagman can also receive double money for performing certain jobs.
