How to Save Battery on The iPad: Brightness

There are a few ways iPad users can extend the life of their battery with quick, accessible changes. For instance, decreasing the brightness of the LED display can save battery life, and allow you to read, listen to music, browse photos or surf the Internet on your iPad for longer periods of time.

The iPad, created and manufactured by Apple, is a portable computing device that offers a 9.7-inch, LED display and touch-screen technology. The iPad includes WiFi, but can also be connected to a 3G network. These functions allow you to access Youtube, iTunes, the Internet and more.http://www.apple.com/ipad/design/ The iPad also allows you to add apps, which are single-function programs that provide quick access to tools, games and Internet features like maps or restaurant guides.http://www.apple.com/ipad/apps-for-ipad/ While normally providing around nine to 10 hours of battery life, decreasing the brightness of the LED display on the iPad can save the battery and allow it to run its many functions for a longer period of time.

Step 1: Access Settings

Slide the bar on your iPad to unlock it. This gets you to the home screen where the majority of the iPad's applications are located. The "Settings" button is silver and has gears on it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0

Once you have located the "Settings" button on your desktop, press it to access the iPad's settings. From here you can change many of the iPad's features and options, including brightness.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0

Step 2: Press Brightness & Wallpaper

In the iPad's Settings menu on the left side of the screen are several options and tools, including buttons that will help you manage WiFi, Safari, videos, pictures and email. Locate the "Brightness & Wallpaper" button directly under the "WiFi" button in this menu and press it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0

This should take you directly to the iPad's Brightness & Wallpaper screen.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0

Step 3: Adjust Brightness

On the Brightness & Wallpaper page, there is a long blue bar on the right side of the screen that allows you to manually adjust the iPad's brightness. If the adjustable button is completely on the right side of this bar, that means the iPad is on its highest brightness setting.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0

Slide the small, round button from right to left to decrease the LED display's brightness setting. Make sure you can still clearly see the screen. Go back to the home screen and enjoy more battery life with your iPad.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8MQ6dQW3q0
