How to Reply to Someone on Twitter

Would you like to learn how to reply to someone on Twitter? An @reply is a comment made directly to another Twitter user. Replies can be made quickly directly within that person's tweet. In addition, Twitter also lets you see replies made specifically to you ("mentions") in your Twitter sidebar. Step 1: Replying on Twitter

To reply to someone on Twitter, you have two options. First you can start a tweet with the person's user name, followed by your comments:

@username I'm not sure I like the idea of swimming with the sharks. Sounds dangerous.

You can also reply directly to the person by clicking the curved arrow directly under their tweet. This will automatically add @username to your comments, letting the person know you're replying directly to them.http://support.twitter.com/groups/31-twitter-basics/topics/109-tweets-messages/articles/14023-what-are-replies-and-mentions

Step 2: Find Replies to You

If you'd like to quickly see Twitter users who have replied to you, click on your user name in the sidebar of your Twitter page. This will pull up a full list of replies made specifically to you. Some of these users might be responding to something you tweeted earlier - other people may just be trying to start a conversation with you.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoH5U02CaqM This feature allows you to see any "mentions" of your name on Twitter.http://support.twitter.com/groups/31-twitter-basics/topics/109-tweets-messages/articles/14023-what-are-replies-and-mentions

Note: If you receive a reply from someone you have blocked on Twitter, you will not see it in your sidebar.http://support.twitter.com/groups/31-twitter-basics/topics/109-tweets-messages/articles/14023-what-are-replies-and-mentions

Step 3: Reply Etiquette

If you are constantly replying to specific friends or contacts on Twitter, some in your Twitterverse may become annoyed with the excess. Try to limit your replies - especially to those who might not be in your other follower's Twitter feeds.http://www.techdarkside.com/how-to-use-reply-in-twitter-messages You can always send a direct message on Twitter to another user as a means of more private communication.

Remember that everyone who follows you can see your @reply. Try to make the replies useful by being specific. Instead of "@username Yes, that's a great idea!" as a reply, you could say "I think going to the Springsteen concert with @username is a killer plan." This way, everyone in your feed understands the conversation and no one is left out of the loop.http://www.techdarkside.com/how-to-use-reply-in-twitter-messages
