Introduction
- You may have already registered as a member of a specific party when you registered to vote; some states require that you do, while others do not. If you want to change your party registration, or declare yourself a member of the Democratic party if you have not already done so, the process is simple. The benefit of registering with a specific party is that you will be allowed to vote in the primaries.

Step 2: Fill Out an Application
- To register as a Democrat, all you need to do is re-register to vote by filling out a voter registration form. There are several ways you can do so:
- Register online at RockTheVote.com
- Download and print off an application from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission website
- Contact your local Secretary of State or elections department for an application form. Some states will allow you to fill out a form online
- Register at your town or city hall or at the County Clerk's office
- Register to vote while renewing your driver's license at the DMV
- Pick up a registration form from your local post office

Conclusion
- The only way to register as a member of the Democratic Party is to fill out another voter registration form. You can fill out the form online, or visit one of the locations listed above to obtain a paper form. Once you have submitted your completed form, you will receive a new voter registration card in the mail within a couple of months.
