If you want to learn how to rap, it's fairly simple. It requires more time and effort than it does natural ability.
You may have heard a lot of rap music, but it's time to really dissect the rhymes the top rappers are spitting. Then it's just a matter of practice!

Introduction
The best way to start rapping is by listening to rap. Listen to the emphasis the rappers put on certain words. Pay attention to what words they're rhyming. If you want to learn how to rap, you must listen to rap. Look up the lyrics to songs online and follow along. Notice the rhyming patterns used.
Rap takes time and practice. Keep practicing, and you'll improve, no matter what!
-
Step 1: Freestyle
Think of a story or concept. It can be very simple or very silly, but having this in mind will help you have something to rap about.Try to freestyle without a beat first, this makes it easier because you don't feel the pressure of time. You can take as long as you want to come up with a rhymes.
Then, download some beats on to your computer. These are easy to find online. Play these beats on in your computer, iPod, or car; and just keep rhyming! It's perfectly okay if you let the beat play a few seconds in between rhymes.
-
Step 2: Open Your Eyes, Expand Your Vocabulary
Keep up to speed on current news. This means everything from the latest pop culture scandal to a serious world-wide problem. If something big happens in the news that you feel strongly about, write a rap about it and post it to YouTube. You have a good chance of being discovered when rapping about a hot topic.
You can expand your vocabulary by reading books and listening to other rappers.
-
Step 3: Practice, Write Down Your Rhymes
Think of an idea or story you really would like to write a song about. Then listen to your beat and start freestyling. Write down any rhymes you like or ideas that pop into your mind.Once you have a first draft, keep revising it until you are content with it's level. It doesn't have to be perfect, and every word doesn't have to rhyme. With every rap song you write you will improve as both a rapper and a writer!
To start, it's helpful to use a beat that already has a hook to it; then all you have to worry about is writing the verses.
-
Step 4: Performance
Once you have a few songs, it's not hard to find places to perform (although it's doubtful you will get paid). Ask your local county fair, hip hop communities, or search online. The key to putting on a good show is having a blast on stage! However, in the heat of the moment, it's hard to improvise your stage act. Make sure you think before hand of what cool moves and things you want to say while you're on stage. The audience won't care if you forget a word or mess up once; they will remember if you involve them! Point your microphone to the audience and shout their city's name. Have fun, and they will too!
