Mahalo's cooking expert Scott Aaronson shows you how to puree tomatoes with your food processor.
What You'll Need
- Tomato
- Cutting board
- Knife
- Food processor
Step 1: Prepare the Tomato
Core the tomato.
- Quarter the tomato by cutting it in half and then cutting the halves in half. Make sure your pieces are small enough to fit in the processor. Larger pieces will take longer to break down and will put more strain on the processor's motor.
Step 2: Prepare the Food Processor
- Mount the work bowl on the base and lock it into place.
- Place the serrated blade over the cylinder in the middle of the work bowl.
- Put your tomato pieces inside the bowl.
- Attach the lid to the top of the bowl and lock it into place. You will not need to use the pusher assembly to puree tomatoes.
Step 3: Puree the Tomato
Press the "on" button.
- Stop and check the consistency of the tomatoes after about 30 seconds. They should be crushed and chunky.
- Replace the lid and continue to process the tomatoes until they become smooth and even.
- The longer you puree the tomatoes, the more liquid they will become.
- Remove the tomatoes when they have reached your desired consistency.
