Character Creation in Warhammer Online
Learn how a character is created in Warhammer Online. As you can see after you select your faction, you can choose a career and after this you can customize your character’s appearance.
Step 1: How to Choose your Warhammer Online Character
Warhammer Online offers different careers to play with. All of them have strong and weak points.http://www.immortalnight.com/helptutorial.php#house Make sure you understand these before beginning gameplay.
Engineers are skilled dwarves specialized in ranged combat. They prefer to stay behind a tank and close to a healer. If a tank fails to keep the enemies far away from him, an Engineer engaged in closed melee fights have little chances to survive and it will need massive healing. But from long range, he is capable using his devices to attack the enemies with explosives and other gadgets. More to that, he can also set traps, in order to dictate his enemies the movement paths, by setting up trip wires.
Ironbreakers are designed to fit the role of the tank in a party. Well geared, with shields and axes], the Ironbreaker is capable to absorb impressive amount of damage and if he is equipped with a two-handed sword, he can also deliver high amounts of damage. In a party they require a healer to sustain their efforts and make them truly invulnerable.
The Rune Priest is a dwarf healer. In every party a healer is needed therefore the Rune Priest is what you want if you seek someone to heal or resurrect your character. Faithfull servants of the Dwarf King Thorgrim Grudgebearer, this unit prefers to avoid direct fights and just focus on healing, but the player must be able to stay focused on multiple friendly targets in order to successfully perform his duty.
Bright Wizards are powerful casters but when it comes to a closed ranged fight they are first to fall. More to that, when a wizard cast his spells, he will increase his Combustion. If the Combustion level is too high, the spells he casts are more powerful but they can turn against him and his party. If you choose to play with this class make sure you know how to keep your character in balance, because a Wizard’s spell knows no friends.
Warrior Priests are the most devoted healers in the Empire. Capable to wear the Hammer of Justice, this mighty warrior can do more than just healing his companions. During a battle it can use the Blessing of Sigmar to increase his damage or provide the Shield of Protection to his friends. Playing with it will also require attention because you will have to keep a balance between your melee and magic abilities.
For a Witch Hunter the main targets are the forces of Chaos. They prefer to sacrifice their entire party in order to destroy all the Chaos adepts. They fought for decades against them and traveled all around the world to accomplish their mission. They move fast and therefore their armor is light, allowing them to hit fast and attack from the shadow, using swords and pistols. These are the main weapons of a Witch Hunter: speed, surprise and determination.
Archmages are the undisputed masters of High Magic. Being a long range fighter an Archmage must constantly scan the battlefield in order to determine which friend needs healing and what opponent has to be removed. That’s why playing with this class, will allow you to cast some spells immediately, or while you are moving. But because of their weak armor, the Archmages are easy targets and they always have to be protected.
A Shadow Warrior fights with his bow. Being an elf allows him to wear light armor, move swiftly on the battlefield and rain arrows from above to finish his task. The player must be focused in changing stances, because this class allows him to attack weaker enemy in a closed range combat but stronger enemies must be destroyed from distance.
Swordmasters are defenders of Ulthuan and sentinels of Asur. Using great-swords, they “dance” on the battlefield exploiting enemy’s weakness, evading and deflecting incoming attacks. They excel in closed combat and even if they are attacked by casters, they usually find a quick way to put them on the ground.
White Lions are High Elf warriors whose companions are their most important weapons. Being capable to tame a lion, the player will have the chance to concentrate on his opponent’s weakest spots while the beast is distracting his target. Not many foes escaped from this deadly tandem in which the elf and his pet are working together.
Black Orcs care for little but to crush the enemies, therefore their main roles are as tanks. Wearing heavy shields they are highly aggressive units capable to taunt multiple targets at the same time in order to draw their attention, allowing the weaker allies to focus on finishing them. They can stun a foe or just pull several enemies, which makes the Orcs the Engines of Destruction.
Shamans are goblins that can heal well and can also buff their allies. A wise thing is to keep a Shaman away from melee combat, due to his weak armor, but if needed he can use his spells to make leather armor turn into steel. A Shaman can always turn the tide of a battle, that’s why players will try to remove him fast from the battleground.
The little Squig Herders are hunters who can successfully play the role of supporting units. With their bows and the little pets, called Squigs, by their sides, these goblin hunters are adepts of the hit-and-run strategy. They have arrows for every type of enemy: poison for tanks, explosive for groups or even chocking arrows for those “nasty” casters who prefer to hide.
Devoted to the Raven God, the Chosen One is more than a mere tank. Side by side with the Black Orcs, in the front lines of the battle, the Chosen's amazing strength is improved by their impressive auras. They don’t care about the wounds they receive, or about the pile of bones they step on…They have no heart, no shame…They only have their Raven God.
When a Magus steps into the battle nobody can tell who will win. They are the masters of demons, capable to summon them whenever they are overwhelmed. A Magus can pull the forces of Chaos, to drive his enemies insane or to burn a mountain to the ground. With his army of demons at his disposal, the Magus can change the odds of a battle anytime.
The Marauder, can eviscerate an entire row of enemies within seconds. It has no remorse and no regrets, knowing that the Raven God watches over him. Quick attacks in closed ranged combats are his specialty and anyone who dares to forget this will soon perish. Not only because they stand in his way, but because a Marauder needs the smell of flesh more than air.
If a Zealot is defeated or removed from the battleground, the entire party will soon find out what death is. Not because he is able to buff them with impressive spells, but because his healing spells are the most effective in the game. Thanks to his dark magic, a Zealot can make a small group look like an army on the battlefield, and this is the best way to surprise anyone.
The Disciple of Khaine is a well trained warrior healer capable to steal the essence of life from his enemies. Khaine, also known as God of Murder, has sent his disciples to shed the blood of their opponents on the battlefield in his name. They are not using spells or heavy armors; they just bring the death with them.
From 100 feet, the Sorceress brings death to all the living creatures who oppose her. More intelligent than any caster, it is a mobile unit that gathers Dark Magic and then release it, while she enjoys seeing his targets melting. Is a support unit and she knows that a blade can’t be stopped with a spell, so she needs protection from any friendly unit.
The Witch Elf. Too refined to fight in the front lines with the Orcs and too blood thirsty to spend her time healing. She just prefers to kill. Fast. With the precision of a surgeon and quicker than a cheetah, this amazing unit has no other goals, but to see a warm body turning cold. Even if it needs some poison first…
Step 2: Warhammer Online Character's Strengths
In Warhammer Online every class (career) has its own strengths. When you choose, you should be aware of them, otherwise choosing a weak career can make your game more difficult than you can imagine. So, here is a small list with the classes available in Warhammer Online and what they excel in:
Engineers can drop turrets for greater damage and to control their opponent’s attacks. Their damage can target units outside their melee range. They can call Artillery Strikes and they can use debuffs to reduce the enemies‘ effectiveness.
Playing as an Ironbreaker you will gain access to heavy armors and your defense skill will be increased. As a tank you will always be welcomed in a party, because tanks are hard to find. The Ironbraker is also capable to debuff his enemies in order to slow them down.
The Rune Priest has the ability to heal. In the offensive role he can draw the power of the land to damage the enemies and debuff them. His healing over time ability can be focused on a friendly target.
Bright Wizards can ignite damage in a very short time, being capable to hit his targets up to 100 feet away. They also have the ability to disperse or control crowds or can use Smoke Screen to shed the monsters. They can buff an entire party to increase everyone’s damage.
Warrior Priests can resurrect fallen allies or cripple enemies. Playing as a Priest you are always welcomed in a party because with the Power of Sigmar you can heal everyone and if you buff them their damage is increased.
A Witch Hunter has the element of surprise therefore he can defeat almost any enemy. Their abilities allows them to slow a target, making them excellent players in PvP. Many of their skills can be used while moving and if the Witch Hunter is behind the target, he is deadly.
The Archmage’s Big Healing skill gives you unlimited life if you have action points to use. The High Magic can be used to cast spells with damage over time, which are useful if you are silenced. An enemy without action points is a dead one and the Archmage can drain them from their targets. What else do you need?
A Shadow Warrior is one of the best ranged damage dealer in the game. They can snare, root, silence or disarm opponents. The Shadow Warrior has 3 stances: melee, ranged or moving between them. If used properly, these stances will give you maximum flexibility in the game.
Swordmasters can use the Greatsword of Hoeth which is a two-handed weapon. He is the adept of disrupting enemies and can deliver increased damage even if he is acting as a defense unit while in a party.
When the White Lion and his pet are attacking together, few can survive that attack. It has increased solo ability and all the axe skills available but his lion is the most important one.
Black Orcs can silence almost any casters. As a tank, his Taunt ability is important to increase threat and a Black Orc should use it often. If he uses buffs, the party will gain increased strength, action points and armor.
Shamans have the healing ability to stay alive. It is a support unit capable to buff in order to increase almost any stat of their team-mates. His offensive spells can hit the target from a decent range.
The Squig Herders can control 4 different types of squigs, each with different abilities. They can be used to pull, attack or just distract the target. With the Shot and Run skill he is able to use his bow while moving. It has different types of arrows that can silent the enemies, slow them down or just lower their initiative. The Squig Herder can heal itself if he eats a squig.
The Chosen One can use heavy armors and cast auras to buff their allies. It also has the ability to damage several targets at the same time but their most important skill is the one that allows them to suffer high level wounds.
A Magus can cast spells quicker than any caster in the game. He can also summon demons, and use Elemental and Spirit spells that can bypass armor.
The Marauder, inflicts massive melee damage and can suffer mutations. He focuses on multiple targets at the same time and can use Charge to move faster. He can break snares and crippling effects.
A Zealot can heal like no other unit. It has different types of healing spells: Big Heal, Fast Heal, Instant Heal and so on. He can also resurrect himself or the others.
The Disciple of Khaine uses swords in combat, but he can also heal and cause damage over time or remove bad effects from him or his allies.
A Sorceress is the adept of Dark Magic which makes his spells even more powerful. With excellent range for all the spells and silence abilities for the enemy, this class is great in supporting a team.
Two daggers coated with poison will be at your disposal as a Witch Elf. Add the ability to use stealth and the quickest attacks in the game and you will understand why the Witch Elf is so powerful.
Step 3: Warhammer Online Character's Weaknesses
After understanding every strong points of Warhammer Online character’s career it is time to see what are their weaknesses. Make sure you read them before adventuring into the game, because without a proper party to sustain you, your character will die.http://www.warhammeronline.com/index.php
Engineers must keep their enemies at range. They have no healing abilities and their armor is weak. If you play with this class make sure you have a healer in your party and stay away from melee opponents.
As an Ironbreaker your ranged attacks are limited and you are vulnerable to them. It is hard to rank up with an Ironbreaker and your damage is medium. You are a tank not a DPS.
The Rune Priest has lower health then other classes. You are not a damage class and your armor is weak. For most of your spells you have to stand still when cast them. Make sure the tank protects you.
Bright Wizards can’t inflict high melee damage. They have low hit points and no healing ability. You have to cast your spells from distance and avoid taking any damage.
Warrior Priests can’t access Righteous Fury without inflicting damage first. Solo fights will take longer and to cast healing spells you must stay still. Because you are a healer, you will be targeted first.
If you are too far away your Witch Hunter will not inflict serious damage. Because you inflict high damage to a single target your enemies will also try to eliminate you as quick as possible. In crowded areas it’s difficult to play as a Witch Hunter because you can’t inflict damage to more than one target. Don’t get too close or too far.
The Archmage is wearing cloth which is not a real armor and can’t stop a sharp blade. Your health is very low and if your try to heal a single target you will not be invited in a party again.
The Shadow Warrior can fight in a melee combat but not too long. To access some of your abilities you have to be in a certain stance and this is confusing.
Swordmasters can use Throw but that is not a true ranged ability. You can’t heal and your best friend is your equipment. Without proper armor you are an easy target.
TheWhite Lion relies on his pet. If he is dead, you will follow. Your ranged damage is weak and can’t heal yourself. Always keep an eye on your lion.
Like any tank, Black Orcs have weak ranged abilities. No self healing either and they are slow. If a group of casters appears, the Orc can’t survive.
Shamans can’t solo too well. Their armor is weak and in melee combat they will always loose. They are supporting units therefore they must be protected.
The Squig Herder wears only light armor. They can heal by eating a squig, but without it they die. Later…but they fall. Their melee attacks are weak and can solo a target easy. If another enemy appears, they should run.
The Chosen One has limited range and is moving slow. To attack and inflict damage you must be close to your target. Without potions you can’t heal and you’re an easy target for spells or arrows.
A Magus can’t heal itself. To cast the spells you have to stay still and your demons can’t leave the summoning circle. If you move you have to summon them again. Your armor will be a robe which makes your defense weak.
The Marauder, has no ranged attacks. A group of well trained mages will burn you in seconds. No healing spells and only medium armor to wear.
A Zealot is known as the biggest healer. That makes the first target and your robe can’t protect you too much. Your low damage is not a real threat, but your healing spells are.
The Disciple of Khaine also has the ability to heal. So it will be targeted as well. Without a serious ranged attack and only average armor the Disciple will not last long.
As a Sorceress, Dark Magic is also a weak point because it will consume you. You wear robes only and the magic damage you inflict is also known by your enemies. They will try to kill you as soon as possible.
A Witch Elf should avoid heavy attacks and stick with the team. Choose your enemy wisely, because even if you inflict heavy damage you can’t stand against a tank, due to your light armor.
