How to Play The Scientist by Coldplay on Piano

Have you ever dreamed of learning how to play The Scientist by Coldplay on piano? Here's your chance! There have been many different adaptations of "The Scientist," including piano and acoustic versions. This page will guide you through three steps to learn how to play "The Scientist."

Coldplay made their first appearance in 2000 when they came out with the album, Parachutes.http://www.metrolyrics.com/coldplay-albums-list.html Coldplay band members include Chris Martin, Will Champion, Guy Berryman, and John Buckland.http://www.notablebiographies.com/news/Ca-Ge/Coldplay.html Since 2000, the band has been successful in releasing more albums and songs. Some popular songs include "Yellow," "Fix You," "Speed of Sound," "The Scientist," and "Viva la Vida." Their album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, debuted in 2002 and includes "The Scientist."

As you learn the song, play around with the chords and have fun with it. Chris Martin often strays from the original performance of the chords when he performs live and does his own thing with them. Keep following this page to learn how to play "The Scientist" by Coldplay on the piano.

Step 1: Intro and Verse

The intro and the verse are almost identical. But before you start playing, make sure that you are comfortably seated before the piano or keyboard. The intro goes like this, with both hands playing chords: D minor 7, to B flat, to F, and then F Sus 2. This repeats once and then ends with C over F.

The verse is the same thing but repeated many times. The last line of the verse goes like this: D minor 7, B flat, F, to C over F at the end. As you can see, it's almost the same as the intro. Now that you've learned the intro and verse, it's time to move onto the chorus.

Step 2: Chorus

The chorus is fairly simple, as the whole song is. The chorus, like the intro and verse, is composed of chords played by both hands. The chords are as followed: B flat, to F, then to F Sus 2, to B flat again, back to F, to C over F, and then F Sus 2 again, then C, C seven, and back to F. It may seem like a long chord progression, but once you start to play it, it will get easier. Make sure to do the chords in order, and play them along with the words of the song.

Step 3: Interlude and Outro

Play the chorus until you reach the interlude. For the interlude, you will be playing F, B flat, F, and C chords. Don't repeat it as it is only played once. After the interlude is finished, play the verse once more as you learned in Step 1. Once the verse is played, play the chorus again (like in Step 2).

Now, it's time for the outro. The outro is the opposite of the intro: instead of beginning a song, you're ending it. The outro is composed of the following chords: D minor seven, to B flat, and then finally F. Play it over and over until you fade out. Congratulations--you've just learned how to play "The Scientist" by Coldplay on piano!
