Now, let's take a look at the minor third. Ben will show you how to play the minor third and what that means in the context of chords and scales.

The Minor Third

The third scale degree is the most important scale degree in any key, because it is the note that defines a scale or chord as being either major or minor. In this case, we're dealing with minor chords and scales. To find the minor third in any key, start with your root and move one whole step up, then one half step up. For example, in the key of G, the major third is Bb (see below):
