Form of the Song
"Rope" is the lead single by the Foo Fighters from the band's seventh studio record, Wasting Light, released in 2011. The band recently added a third guitar, so it's no surprise that the band's newer songs, including "Rope", are guitar-driven tracks.
The single rose to number one, followed by its second single "Walk" at number one, making the Foo Fighters the first band to have consecutive singles on the Billboard Rock Charts. The song's video uses a unique approach, shooting with a VHS recorder in square room with silhouettes and changing lights.
The guitars in the song use a fast paced strumming, very start-and-stop style, with several chords used. Most of the chord, however, are power chords that involve very little finger transition, only hand transition down the neck of the frets.
"Rope" uses the following song structure:
- Intro
- Verse
- Chorus
- Verse
- Chorus
- Drum solo/guitar solo
- Chorus
- Outro
