Crazy pineapple poker is a unique card game that is similar to Texas hold 'em, but with a few interesting differences. Rather than giving each player two face-down cards to open the hand, each player receives three, but one must be discarded later in the hand. For more information about this distinct game, read on to learn how to play crazy pineapple poker.
With the exception of the extra hold card, one of which will be discarded during the hand, the game is played just the same as Texas hold 'em. Players can use their two hole cards, plus the five community cards to make their best five-card hand. The player with the highest-ranking hand, or the last person in the hand should all others fold, will win the pot.http://www.crazypineapplepoker.com/
Also similar to Texas hold 'em, crazy pineapple poker can be played in fixed-limit, pot-limit or no-limit variations. Along the same lines, the blinds can be varied based on table preference, from a dollar or two to several hundred at a time.http://www.crazypineapplepoker.com/
Unlike standard Texas hold'em, the game is often played in a hi-lo version, where the pot is split between the player holding the highest-ranking hand and another holding the lowest-ranking hand, should the low hand contain an eight or lower.http://www.playwinningpoker.com/poker/rules/pineapple/

Featured Video: Playing Crazy Pineapple Poker
In this video from Expert Village, Johnny Ferrell explains the basic gameplay for crazy pineapple poker. This video however shows a variation of the classic gameplay, allowing the players to discard one of their three hole cards after all five community cards are dealt, rather than after the flop, or first three community cards are dealt. Allowing the discard later permits players to make better hands as they will know which card is least-valuable after seeing all of the community cards, rather than only the first three.
Crazy Pineapple Poker Variations
To spice the game up a bit, a number of variations can be used when playing crazy pineapple poker.
- Rather than the highest-ranking hand winning the pot, the game can be played in lo or hi-lo versions.
- In the lo version, the player holding the lowest-ranking hand wins the pot.
- In hi-lo, the pot is split between the player with the highest-ranking hand and the player with the lowest-ranking hand. In hi-lo, the lo hand must contain a high card of eight or lower. Should lo hands fail to qualify, the entire pot will be awarded to the person with the highest-ranking hand.http://www.playwinningpoker.com/poker/rules/pineapple/
- In a variation known as Tahoe hold 'em, players can keep all three hole cards, however only a maximum of two can be used when creating the best five-card hand.
- In Super hold 'em, players also keep all three hole cards and can use as many as three to create their best five-card hand.
- Some games can be played with the player discarding one of their three hole cards just after the fifth community card is shown and before the final round of better, rather than after the flop is dealt.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4iBj2B9K98

Those familiar with playing Texas hold 'em will be right at home when playing crazy pineapple poker as the rules and ranking of hands are nearly identical.
- Aces are high, but can also be used low to create straights.
- Action follows a clockwise manner, including the order of betting and when the cards are dealt.
- The player immediately left of the dealer is required to post the small blind. The next player to the immediate left is required to post the large blind.
- Following each hand, the dealer, or dealer button, moves one seat clockwise.
- Blinds can be varied, including small amounts like a few cents or dollars an upwards in excess of several hundreds of dollars. This can be decided upon by members at the table before the game begins.
- In the final two rounds of betting of many games, the minimum bids must be double the original large blind. For example, if the game has $2/$4 blinds, to bet in the final two rounds, a player must bet $8.http://www.crazypineapplepoker.com/
- Limits can also vary, from fixed limit, no limit or pot limit.http://www.neverwinpoker.com/poker-rules/crazy-pineapple

Step 2: Play Crazy Pineapple Poker
After all of the rules, hand rankings and other details are squared away, it's time to shuffle up and deal!
- To open the hand, the player to the immediate left of the dealer posts the small blind and the player to his or her immediate left posts the large blind.
- Each player is dealt three cards, all face down.
- Betting opens with the player to the left of the large blind allowed to call the large blind, raise the bet amount or fold.
- A card is burned (placed face down and out of play) by the dealer, then three community cards, know as the flop, are dealt face up on the table.
- A second round of betting follows, starting with the person to the immediate left of the dealer. Players can check, bet, raise, call or fold.
- Each player now must discard one of their hole cards.
- The dealer burns another card and places a fourth card face up, known as the turn, in the center to be used as a community card.
- Another round of betting follows, with the minimum bet double the original large blind. Again, players are permitted to check, bet, raise, call or fold.
- One final card is burned, with a last community card, known as the river, placed face up alongside the others on the table.
- A last round of betting occurs, again with the minimum bet double the large blind amount and players allowed to check, bet, call, raise of fold.
- After bets are completed, players flip their cards up to determine which ranks highest. The player with the highest-ranking five-card hand wins the pot.http://www.pineapple-poker.com/rules/crazy-pineapple-poker-rules.html
- Cards are shuffled, the dealer, or dealer button, moves one seat clockwise and the steps are repeated for each hand.
