Ragnarok Online is a fantasy MMORPG developed by GRAVITY Co. Ltd and published by the same company with a TEEN rating. The game was released on June 1, 2003 in USA, April 15, 2004 in Europe and December 1, 2002 in Japan. The story takes place in a fantasy world after a truce was made between humans, demons and Gods. But after 1,000 years of peace, everybody forgot what happened in the last war and corruption and selfishness came back to life. Until one day, when the balance was broken and Midgard was attacked by strange creatures. Heroes from around the world set out to seek the wealth and glory that once was vanished. The world of Ragnarok is ruled by 3 major nations: Rune Midgard, Schwaltzvalt Republic and Arunafeltz, and the areas the players will explore are modeled by societies from the real world. Example: Amatsu has elements inspired by Japanese mythology.

This page will show you how to install Ragnarok on your computer, how to create an account and what classes (jobs) are available in the game.

In order to play Ragnarok Online you have to create a valid account on the official Ragnarok website, download and install the game and pay your subscription. The game is free to play for 7 days only, after this you have to pay for it. This step will show you how to create your Ragnarok account:

1. Go to: http://www.ragnarokonline.com/ ;
2. On the main page select your location. In our case, USA;
3. On the left side of the screen under the Login section, click Register;
4. The next page will ask you to fill the registration fields required to create your account;
5. Create your account name and your password. Make sure the name is 4-12 characters long and your password is 6-12 characters long. Only alpha-numeric characters, no spaces and no special characters.
6. Fill in your name, email, gender and date of birth fields and the security code section;
7. Check the TOS (Terms of Service) section and click Confirm;
8. You will receive an email with the verification link. Check your email address and click on the link;
9. You will be automatically redirected to your Ragnarok account page;

As you can see from your account you can manage your monthly payments, purchase a membership, change your information, etc…

Now, that you have a valid Ragnarok Online account is time to download and install the game. To download Ragnarok players need to:

1. Go to: http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/download/download.asp
2. On that page you can see 3 options to download the game client: direct download, torrent download or, you can download only parts from the entire archive. Choose one option but make sure you have at least 1.48 GB free on your HDD;
3. Choose the path where you want the game client to be saved and click Save;

Note: Downloading the game client for Ragnarok could take some time, depending on your Internet Connection.

After the download completes, is time to install Ragnarok on your computer. To do that, follow these steps:

1. Go to the location where you downloaded the game client;
2. Click on RAG_SETUP;
3. The installation wizard will start and you will have to agree to the TOS (Terms of Service) again. Check the box and click Next;
4. Choose the path where you want to install the entire game and click Begin Installation;
5. When the installation completes click Finish;
6. The next window will show you the Game Settings

Notes:

1. In order to run the game properly, you should not change any of the settings, except the game resolution.
2. After the installation completes, the game will automatically download the available updates.

When you create your Ragnarok Online character you will notice that you can’t choose your race or class like you do in other MMORPG's. To obtain a class you have to level up you character and to choose from different paths:

1. Level 1 – You will start as a Super Novice. Your character can be a male or a female, and you will start your journey wearing a shirt, a knife, and no money. You should focus on completing quests in order to increase your income and your level.
2. Level 10 – This is when you have to choose your path. You can be a Swordman, Archer, Acolyte, Magician, Thief or Merchant. Be advised that every class has its own abilities, weak points and strong points.
3. Level 40 – At this level you will be able to choose your second class (specialization). There is a wide range of classes Ragnarok offers: Knights, Crusaders, Hunters, Assassins, Alchemists and more…Based on your first path choice you are now able to choose the second one. For example: A Swordman can choose to be a Knight or a Crusader, while a Mage can be a Wizard or a Sage. Ragnarok also offers some extended classes: Ninja, Gunslinger or Soul Linker, and unlike any other MMORPG, in this game your gender choice will modify the gameplay. Example: If your job is Archer, if your character is a male, he can be a Bard, but if it’s a female, she will be a Dancer.

Another interesting fact is that you will unlock basic actions too while you level up. For example: When you reach level 3 your character will be able to sit. At level 5 you will be able to throw parties, etc…
